THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
Late October/early November marks the time when I pull out all of my decorations, clean all the things that I will needs for the holidays. Things get pulled out of closets, drawers, nooks and crannies. And my Christmas tablecloths or Weihnachtstischdeckchen are no exceptions. If I am completely honest I have too many to count. They take up drawers and drawers, even in the garage. When I went through them today, I actually realized that I have more tablecloths than actual tables in the house!
You could probably cover every table in a school cafeteria – that’s how many there are. But each and every single one is special. I remember where they came from and who gave them to me. Particularly the hand embroidered one hold a special place in my heart!
Being born and raised in Germany, these tablecloths are hand stitched by my Oma, mom and even her mom. Those little pieces of fabric hold so many memories!
And every year, each and every single one gets a chance to shine and show off their true beauty during the Christmas time, such as under the Adventskranz (advent wreath), on the Heiligabend (Christmas Eve) dinner table, under a plate of Weihnachtsplätzchen (Christmas cookies) and of course the Weihnachtspyramide (spinning wood candle holder).
I am a German-American girl, now 72 years old. Your blog is awesome and I appreciate your effort. Thank you for sharing old memories.
